About Nao

Nao was born in a small town in Gunma,Japan.Living around mountains forests, and flower beds, Nao's disposition toward nature has been a constant in life. Old faith, worshipping some mountains, trees and other natural things and phenomenons, is still remain in Gunma.Her imagination was brought up in such an environment and she found pleasure in expressing the mysterious world. Her calligraphy lines, Her constitution of works are affected by the Japanese indeginous culture of "Wabi and Sabi",the beauty  found in poverty and simplicity and elegant simplicity. In calligraphy, it's not allowed to trace the same place again, and it's better not to use unnecessary lines. The simplest expression is regarded as the best. It is pure, is not artificial and express plain nature. The tools of calligraphy are very simple, too. A writing brush , a sumi  ink stick, an inkstone and the paper have been used in the Orient from ancient times.The color used in calligraphy is mainly white and the black. It is very simple, therefore it's difficult to include a lie. She have held some private exhibitions and  group exhibitions steadily and continues pursuing possibility of the expression. By the way, she also challenges a three-dimensional work in the collaboration with a craftsman who cuts iron. And the activity of Nao does not stop. Her trip as an artist continues as far as her curiosity and spirit of enquiry.
